CREY is building the most accessible non-technical game creation ecosystem in the world. Taking formats traditionally known from professional studios and giving them to the creators in all of us.



We are looking for an experienced User Researcher who will focus primarily on our editor desktop application and on our web platform. Ensuring we have a deep understanding of who uses our tools, what their needs are and that we consider those user needs in our design process.



CREY is trying to shake up game development so experience in the industry will be a must. It is also beneficial if you have worked on a desktop application that enables creativity e.g., 3D modelling, imaging or game design.



Responsibilities

Define an agile and lightweight research program that ensures we build the most accessible non-technical game creation tools.
Ensure your research helps inform decision making, both at a strategic and at a team level.
Embed yourself within development teams to ensure insight generation is a transparent, inclusive, and additive process.
Provide actionable insights from a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods including but not limited to; behavioural interviews, diary studies, focus groups, usability testing, playtesting, gameplay telemetry, competitive testing, and surveys.
Work with product management, design, and technology to ensure your insight is presented clearly to a broad audience and acted upon in a timely manner.
Work alongside product analytics to ensure that their findings can be attributed to actual behaviour and translate that into improvements to the user experience.
Work on outreach with our community manager and our marketing team, to recruit a panel of engaged participants who can provide regular and quick insight.
Recruitment and screening of external testing participants via third parties or our own panel.

This position requires someone who has proven experience in a range of research methodologies, especially within the field of gaming.

You are confident as the domain expert in a growing organisation. Building empathy with the team so they trust your judgement and can see how it applies to the problems they solve.

You are a self-starter with a positive additive attitude, able to look at our strategy and help the organisation solve the right problems.

You enjoy sharing your research with a broad range of people and have excellent presentation skills to ensure the team can understand your insight.



Knowledge & Experience

A relevant professional background in research or a degree in Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, or related field.
Curious and passionate about understanding human behaviour in relation to creativity and expression.
Proven and demonstrable experience with delivering qualitative and quantitative research in a digital product development environment.
Is familiar with the agile product development lifecycle and has experience in helping teams to consider user needs at all stages of development.
You have an interest in, or experience in gaming or building games.
A passionate advocate for user centered design principles and data informed design.
